The relationship between therapist and client is the foundation to an effective therapy experience. Building a rapport with my clients and their families is necessary for one to trust the process. I believe that with hope, validation, and a little humor we can begin our journey!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who focuses on adolescent, early and mid-adult therapy services. I specialize in working with suicidal ideation, self-harm, interpersonal relationships, and skills-based practices.
My goal is for each client to build and apply various coping skills, communication and interpersonal skills to ride out our emotional waves and build a life worth living.
I use a variety of methods including, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills and goal centered treatment to improve upon self-worth and person-centered skills. I have a growth mindset approach to therapy and will work starting out with what YOU are wanting, needing, and open to try in treatment.
My experience over the past 15 years in the mental health field has greatly strengthened my skills and perspective to build empathy for my clients and families. I have worked with a variety of clients and patients at the inpatient, outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) levels. I enjoy working with both the adolescent and adult population primarily struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, balancing family dynamic differences, assertive communication with validation skills, emotion regulation, late teen to early adult life transitions and processing trauma with skills-based practices.
I am a graduate of the University of Kansas (undergraduate) and University of Texas at Arlington (graduate). When I am not in the office, I can be found walking my 8-year-old Shih Tzu, Benny, enjoying concerts, comedy shows, Jayhawk basketball or baking pies.
