Ryan Rodriguez

Licensed Professional Counselor

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who grew up in the Park Cities area of Dallas, Texas. I have bachelor degrees in sociology and government from The University of Texas at Austin; a juris doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law; and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Northwestern University. However, I am known for saying that my experience is my best education! I’m a therapist who has “been there, done that,” with both positive experiences and personal and mental health challenges.

I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, codependency, and substance abuse. My holistic approach focuses on cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual health as equally important parts of a single system. In session I tend to utilize cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and attachment theory most frequently, but I will also utilize eye-movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Twelve Step framework when indicated as appropriate. I firmly believe that any constellation of difficult experiences and circumstances can be transformed into a joyful, meaningful life…I have experienced this result myself, and many of my patients have reported this as well!
